Tarraleah truck crash
About 10.20am today, 21 July, a fully laden cement truck was travelling on the Lyell Highway towards Bronte Park from the direction of Tarraleah.
At the bottom of the Nive Hill the truck lost control on the sharp left hand corner just before the Nive Bridge and rolled onto its side. It then rolled down the embankment and came to rest in an open area of Tarraleah Power Station.
Hydro workers at the Tarraleah and Tungatinah Power Stations were quickly on the scene and rendered assistance to the injured driver until the arrival of ambulance officers from Wayatinah.
The 29 year old driver was transported by ambulance to Tarraleah where he was conveyed by helicopter to the RHH.
It is believed that ice on the road caused the driver to lose control in the slippery conditions.
Local police would like to extend their thanks to the Hydro workers and volunteer SES, Fire and Ambulance personnel who assisted at the crash site.
