Tamarix Road, Primrose Sands – Arson Investigation

Police are investigating a suspicious house fire at Tamarix Rd reported in the early hours of this morning.

Upon arrival at about 3am, police and other emergency services found the dwelling fully engulfed by flames.

This is the 10th deliberately lit fire in the area since the middle of last year. It is the eleventh property that has been damaged as a direct result of the fires.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no-one was injured.

“It is very concerning that another property has been targeted,” said Detective Constable Damien McVilly.

“Police understand the heightened community concern around these incidents and we are working closely with the community on our investigation.

“We continue to believe there are people that know more than they are telling us about these fires and we call on them to tell us what they know.

“All information we receive is treated seriously and fully investigated.

“As part of our investigations, an officer is currently working within the township and is liaising regularly with residents and investigators.

“Regular patrols are being conducted and a number of other investigative tools are being utilised,” he said.

Police ask anyone with information in relation to these matters to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
