During the morning of Monday 12th November 2012 Smithton Police attended Ta Ann Tasmania at Marthicks Road Smithton where two protestors were locked on through heavy machinery.

Members from Western Search and Rescue attended and released the pair who were arrested and charged with Trespassing; they were bailed to appear in the Launceston Court of Petty Sessions in January 2013. A third person will also be prosecuted by summons.

The protest action caused a temporary shut-down of operations at Ta Ann.
