At around 16:40hrs Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police attended Flint House, 43 Pirie Street, New Town, in response to a suspicious structure fire.

The fire was brought under effective control and approximately 30 residents of Flint House have been provided with temporary alternate accommodation.

Currently the cause of the fire is undetermined with investigations ongoing.

The extent of the damage is yet to be determined at this time with no members of the public, residents of Flint House or attending emergency service workers were injured during this incident.
