At about 10:10am on Tuesday, 4 October 2016, Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police attended a report of a house fire in Mornington Drive, Ravenswood.

Upon arrival, the residence was engulfed in flames.

The fire was extinguished by fire crews a short time later.

The occupants of the residence were not home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.

There is significant damage to the house and the approximate value of the damage is $170,000.

Forensic Services and CIB officers also attended the scene.

At this stage, police are treating the fire as suspicious.

Investigations are continuing as to the cause of the fire.
