Launceston Detectives are investigating and suspicious house fire that occurred at 185 Alanvale Road Newnham at 11:30pm Last night.

Launceston Police and Tasmania Fire Service subsequently attended the scene where the residence was engulfed in flames. TFS quickly extinguished the fire, however the residence suffered significant fire and water damage to the value of $200,000. The residence is still standing, however the structural integrity of the building is weak.

Tasmania Police are appealing for anyone who has information or witnessed any suspicious activity at the time of the fire to contact Launceston Police on 13144 of Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
