On the 15th June 2016 at approximately 9pm, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service attended a fire at the Mersey Valley Workers Club at 44-52 Stewart Street Devonport.

The fire started in a smoking area at the rear of the business, which was closed at the time. Police are treating the fire as suspicious and investigations are continuing. The fire caused approximately $50,000 damage to the Workers Club, as well as smoke damage
to neighbouring businesses.
