A fire which engulfed a unit on Dickson Street, Glenorchy last night is believed to be suspicious and Detectives from Glenorchy CIB are calling for witnesses.

At approx. 8.50pm last night, Tasmania Fire Service were notified of a structure fire at a unit complex located at 6 Dickson Street, Glenorchy.

Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police both attended.

Upon arrival one of the unit’s was well alight and completely engulfed.  Nearby units and residents were evacuated.  No persons were injured as a result of the fire.

No one was at home at the time of the fire which has destroyed the unit.

At this stage the fire is believed to be suspicious and Detectives from Glenorchy CIB are investigating.

Damage is estimated at $30000.  The property is owned by Housing Tasmania.
