George Town Police are investigating the cause of a fire at a private residence at Sorell Street, George Town.

The fire occurred between the hours of 7pm and 9.30am on Sunday 10 October 2010.

Tasmania Fire Service attended and extinguished the blaze confined to a spare bedroom of the residence that was unoccupied at the time. It is estimated that the damage caused to be in excess of $20,000.

Police are appealing to the public who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the premises prior to the fire.
