Suspicious Fire – 131 Mockridge Road, Clarendon Vale

On Monday the 27th June 2016 at approximately 6.00pm Tasmania Police and the Tasmanian Fire Service attended a structure fire at 131 Mockridge Road, Clarendon Vale.

 

The fire was discovered by neighbours who observed smoke pouring from the front of the residence in the living area.

 

The fire was quickly extinguished and the structure of the property remained intact, however the contents of the residence were badly damaged by fire and smoke. The fire has caused an estimated $200,000 in property and contents damage.

 

The single occupant of the property was not home at the time.

 

The property was fitted with two smoke alarms that had their batteries removed. It is a timely reminder that home owners maintain their smoke alarms so they are in a working condition.
