Tasmania Police are attending a sudden death at Egmont Bridge, Westbury, about 10:30 this morning.

Police attended the bridge in response to a distressed call from a man at Egmont Bridge. When police arrived,they attempted to speak to the man,who was armed with a firearm.

The man used the firearm on himself and died at the scene. The Coroner is attending the scene.

As police were in attendance the man’s death will be subject to a review by Tasmania Police Professional Standards.
