Sudden death investigation
A post mortem examination and other forensic testing is being conducted in relation to the death of a 32 year old man, who was found in his New Town unit yesterday.
“There is evidence that an altercation or disturbance occurred at the unit on New Town Road earlier this week involving several men,” said Detective Acting Inspector Craig Joel said.
“However there is no forensic or other evidence that suggests the 32 year old man died as a consequence of the injuries he is alleged to have sustained in that altercation.
“A file is being prepared for the Coroner. We are still awaiting results from forensic tests to determine the cause of death,” he said.
A 30 year old man is assisting police with their inquiries this evening around the circumstances of the altercation.
“Investigations will continue and charges may follow,” he said.
“Police would like to thank the community for their assistance in the investigation of this incident,” said Detective Acting Inspector Joel.
