Sudden Death At Dunalley Boat Ramp

Sadly police can confirm an 80-year-old man was located deceased at a boat ramp in the Dunalley around 1pm this afternoon.

Around 10am this morning police were notified of a concern for welfare for an elderly man who set off yesterday for an overnight boat trip and had not returned this morning.

Police attended the Boomer Bay boat ramp where the man had his boat moored but were unable to locate him.

Tasmania Police Search and Rescue commenced an extensive search of the area using a police boat and two Westpac Rescue Helicopters and sadly located the body of a deceased man wearing a life jacket. The body has now been identified as the missing man.

At this stage there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

A police investigation is being conducted and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
