At 2.50am 27 October 2011 Police and the Fire Service were called to attend a structure fire at York Street, Launceston. Tasmanian Fire Service extinguished a fire in a second floor unit above the business known as Radio Rentals.

No one was injured during the fire however damage to the building was significant.

Police interviewed a 27-year-old Launceston man in relation to the fire. He was charged with one count of arson and unlawfully destroying property.

He was bailed to appear at the Launceston Court of Petty Sessions on the 21 December 2011.
