Structure Fire – Weld Street, Beaconsfield
At approximately 1:40am on Sunday the 14th December 2014, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service were tasked to attend a structure fire at a unit on Weld Street, Beaconsfield.
Upon arrival of emergency services the unit was found to be fully alight. Tasmania Fire Service bought the blaze under control, saving adjoining units, however substantial damage had been caused to the unit in question. Damage is estimated at approximately $200,000 – $250,000.
At the time of the fire there were two male occupants at the unit. Both were checked by Tasmania Ambulance officers at the scene, with one male being transferred to the Launceston General Hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties.
The cause of the blaze is currently undetermined and further examinations are to be undertaken by Tasmania Fire Scene Examiners.
