At around 4:10am today (Saturday), emergency services responded to a report of a structure fire at a block of businesses in Station Lane, Sorell.

As a result of the fire two businesses appear to have suffered fire, smoke and water damage.  Two units at the rear of the building are unaffected, Sergeant Adrian Mollon said.

“Investigations will progress throughout the day.   Initial investigations indicate that the fire started behind several electrical appliances in one of the businesses, with the fire spreading into the ceiling cavity, “he said.

“The prompt response from local TFS brigades prevented further damage to the structure.”
