On Wednesday the 30/4/14 at 6.45pm a structure fire was reported at a property on Irishtown Road, Irishtown.

Smithton Police and a number of Tasmania Fire Service units attended to find a barn containing hay well alight which was extinguished after some time.

As a result the barn was destroyed and the adjoining calf shed which was empty suffered some fire damage. The estimated value of the damage is $25,000.00

The cause of the fire at this stage is undetermined with ongoing enquiries being conducted.
