Approximately 10.30am on Saturday 17 January 2015, Tasmania Fire Service and Launceston Police were called to a structure fire at 108 Alanvale Road Newnham.

Upon arrival the single storey dwelling was well alight. TFS entered the residence via an insecure front door.

Information provided to police suggests the residence has been vacant for the past 10 years.

As a result of the fire considerable damage has occurred. The damage is estimated at $200,000.

Tasmania Fire Service are still conducting investigations into the cause of the fire.
