At 7:00 pm Thursday the 13th November 2014 Police and Tasmania Fire Service were alerted to a structural fire at the rear of the Red Velvet Lounge Cygnet.

Volunteer Fire Crews managed to extinguish the blaze before it could spread to neighbouring properties.

Significant fire damage was caused to the rear of the building and smoke and heat damage was caused throughout the rest of the building.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage and will be investigated by the Tasmanian Fire Service.
