Stranger alert

Approximately 3.30 pm on Sunday 20 February 2011 a 14 year old girl was walking along Mersey Main Road in Spreyton when she was approached by a man driving a white van.  The van was travelling on the incorrect side of the road in the vicinity of the Woodrising Avenue intersection.

The man told the girl to get into his vehicle on two (2) occasions before driving off.  The van is described as being a white rectangle shaped van.

Police ask that parents/carers reinforce the ‘stranger danger’ message to their children.

At this time police have only had one incident referred to them.  However, they ask that if members of the public are aware of similar incidents in the Spreyton area that they contact Sergeant Maingay at Criminal Investigation Branch Devonport or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
