Storm Damage to Businesses at Round Hill, Burnie

At 5:45pm on Monday the 28th of July 2014 Police responded to the report of storm damage to a building at Round Hill, Burnie.  On attendance it was ascertained that extensive storm damage had occurred to a number of businesses at Round Hill and power lines were broken and on the ground.

Two business operators were present at their businesses when the storm hit. One operator, a 68 year old male received minor injuries and was taken to the North West Regional Hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

Aurora Energy, Tasmania Fire Service, Ambulance Tasmania and State Emergency Service also attended the site.

Police will be maintaining a presence at the site throughout the night.  Members of the public are asked to avoid the area at this time due safety concerns with the damaged structures.

The Bass Highway is open and clear for all traffic.
