Stolen property from vehicle burglaries recovered by police
Police are seeking public information in relation to car burglaries in Launceston.
Early yesterday morning, Launceston police arrested a 30-year-old Launceston man in possession of a large quantity of stolen property.
Investigations revealed that the property had been stolen from unlocked vehicles in the Summerhill and Prospect areas.
Three vehicles burgled have been identified and complaints received by police.
A large amount of the recovered property is still unidentified, and it is believed at least three further vehicles have been burgled. Anyone in the area who has had their vehicle burgled and hasn’t reported it to police is asked to phone Launceston Police on 131 444.
The Launceston man has been charged with 3x burglary and 3x stealing. He will appear before the Court at a later date.
A second man believed to be involved remains outstanding. Anyone who saw two men in dark clothing acting suspiciously in the Summerhill and Prospect areas early yesterday morning, or has CCTV footage that could assist police, is asked to contact Constable Stuart Bauld of Launceston Uniform.
This is a timely reminder of the opportunistic nature of some offenders and reiterates the importance of keeping your vehicle locked when it is unattended.
