Southern Crime Figures

Tasmania Police is open and accountable when it comes to crime figures, and publishes these figures monthly and annually on its website.

The figures for the Southern District released by the Police Association are among those publicly available each month, however this data set is a preliminary version made available to Districts for the purposes of responding to emerging trends and allocating resources.

The figures are Financial Year to Date, and the Southern District figures reflect an increase in offences in the first 11 weeks, compared to the same period last year.

“It is important to view crime statistics in context as they will fluctuate over time.  Policing is not an exact science and this data provides the intelligence for us to identify and respond to trends,” said Southern District Commander, Peter Edwards.

“The data allows the District to allocate appropriate resources to address emerging issues,” said Commander Edwards.
