Smithton men charged with setting fire to property
Police have charged two Smithton men with several offences including setting fire to property in Smithton on 2 August.
Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police attended a fire at a Scotchtown Road address where a car and shed were destroyed by fire.
Police yesterday charged a 45-year-old Smithton man and a 19-year-old Smithton man with unlawfully set fire to property, aggravated burglary, and injury to property.
Detective Senior Constable Jess Walshe, of Burnie Criminal Investigations Branch said that, “police will allege that this was a specific, targeted crime with no implications for other members of the Smithton Community”.
The men were conditionally bailed to appear before the Burnie Court on 27 October 2020.
