Smithton man detected driving 3 times over the alcohol limit
A Smithton man has been charged after being detected driving three times over the alcohol limit.
Police intercepted a vehicle on Nelson Street at Smithton around 11.40pm last night for the purposes of a random breath test.
The driver, a 29 year old male from the Smithton area, returned a positive alcohol test and was transported to the Smithton Police Station.
A further breath analysis revealed his reading to be 0.152, three times the legal limit.
The man was charged with exceed 0.05 and was immediately disqualified from driving for 12 months.
He was later bailed to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court on 15 December 2021.
