Single vehicle truck crash near Smithton

 

On Tuesday the 3rd of November at 10.03am Tasmania Police were alerted to a single vehicle truck crash on Rennison Road, which is off the Bass Highway at Togari in the State’s north-west.

 

A white 2012 Isuzu tipper had been travelling in a northerly direction when it has crossed to the incorrect side of the road colliding with a power pole.  The power pole has snapped at the base with the truck coming to rest in a paddock.

 

The 41 year old male driver from Smithton, who was the sole occupant of the truck, was was trapped in the cab.  Smithton State Emergency Service units attended and cut the driver from the truck. The driver suffered serious leg injuries and was transported via ambulance in a stable condition to the North West Regional Hospital for further treatment.

 

The cause of the crash has not been determined at this stage.
