Single Vehicle Truck Crash – Bass Highway Chasm Creek

Just before 6.30am this morning, Emergency Services were called to attend a single vehicle truck rollover on the Bass Highway near Chasm Creek.

The vehicle involved was a Victorian registered green Isuzu truck with a white gas tank affixed at the rear which contained 10,000 litres of LPG (gas).

As a result of damage to the truck and gas tank the highway was closed whilst safety assessments were completed.

The driver of the truck was out of the vehicle upon arrival of Emergency Services. He was assessed by Ambulance Tasmania, transported to the North West Regional Hospital for treatment and later released.

Ambulance Tasmania, Tasmania Fire Service, Tasmania Police and Transport Inspectors attended the scene.

Personnel from the gas company attended the scene and assisted in the assessment and removal of the gas and truck from the scene.

The Highway was subject to intermittent road closures throughout the day and is now re-opened subject to reduced speed limits.
