Single vehicle crash Southern Outlet
Tasmania Police is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred on the Southern Outlet near Mount Nelson on Friday 22 March 2013.
About 7.00am, a white coloured Isuzu Tipper truck was travelling in the north bound lane enroute to Hobart. While negotiating a slight right hand bend, the driver lost control of the truck causing it to collide into a section of armco-railing.
The truck subsequently crossed lanes and collided into another section of armco-railing before rolling onto its side.
Emergency Services attended the scene and the driver, a 38 year old male from Kingborough, was removed from the truck. The driver was treated at the scene by Paramedics and cleared of any apparent injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The crash caused traffic disruptions for about two and a half hours while the scene was examined and safely cleared.
Tasmania Police is continuing with investigations but at this stage neither speed nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors. The road surface was wet at the time of the crash.
“While the truck sustained considerable damage, the driver appears to have escaped injury. This crash reinforces our message that properly fitted seatbelts do prevent injuries,” said Sergeant John Delpero.
Anyone with information in relation to the crash is asked to phone Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
