Single Vehicle Crash Penquite Road Launceston

On Friday 24th April 2015 at approximately 20:01hrs a silver Ford Sedan was involved in a crash at the intersection of Penquite Road and Amy Road at Newstead. The vehicle concerned hit a power pole shearing the pole off at ground level. This caused extensive damage to adjoining power poles and wires.

The driver and sole occupant was taken by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The male concerned will be spoken to by police in due course. It is believed that inattention played a role in the crash.

As a result extensive work will need to be conducted to a number of power poles in the general area with wires being replaced. The power will be off in the immediate area til late in the afternoon on the 25 of April 2015.

Police wished to advise all persons that vehicular traffic will need to keep away from the immediate area of the intersection of Penquite Road and Lantana Avenue, Amy Road and Helen Street and Penquite Road and Docking Court near Scotch Oakburn College. The area will be closed until late in the afternoon on Saturday the 25/04/2015 while repairs are being conducted.
