Shortly before 5pm on Monday 18^th of February 2013 Deloraine Police attended the scene of a single vehicle crash on the Bass Highway near the Illawarra Road Connector.

On arrival it was established that a red Ford sedan had impacted upon the Armco railing after blowing out a tyre while travelling east from Devonport to Hobart.

Emergency Services worked to free the trapped driver who was taken to the Launceston General Hospital where he was treated for fractured ribs and later released that evening.

The 4 other occupants were treated by TAS ambulance at the scene and did not suffer any significant injuries.

Police wish to thank motorists who were affected by the delays for their patience.
