Single Vehicle Crash at Bass Highway, Latrobe

Approximately 4:35pm on Sunday 20 May 2018 police were advised of a white Subaru Outback station wagon driving in an erratic manner, overtaking when unsafe in the Westbury area, heading west towards Devonport.

Approximately 5:00pm emergency services were called to a single vehicle crash on the Bass Highway, Latrobe involving the white Subaru Outback.  The driver decamped prior to police arrival and was located nearby in Latrobe, where he was apprehended and transported to the Mersey Community Hospital for treatment.

There were three female passengers in the vehicle, all receiving minor injuries and were transported to hospital by ambulance.  The injuries were not considered to be life threatening.

Traffic on the Bass Highway at Latrobe was affected for approximately four hours.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking witnesses that may have observed the white Subaru Outback station wagon driving dangerously between Launceston and Devonport on the afternoon of Sunday 20 May 2018.  Police would be particularly interested in any dash-cam footage that may be available.  Constable William Faichney of the Latrobe Police Station is investigating the crash and can be contacted on: 131444.
