Single Member Response Model
Tasmania Police operates single and two officer patrols to assist in managing response times and the police capacity to attend calls.
The Single Member Response Model is designed to reduce risks associated with single police officers attending or responding to incidents.
Tasmania Police has reviewed its current Model and will soon be implementing a revised SMRM.
Extensive consultation has occurred in respect to the new Model, including with the Police Association of Tasmania (PAT).
Officer safety is our priority. Policing can be a dangerous profession and we are committed to implementing a revised Model which best supports our members while enabling police to respond to the needs of the community.
Officers who attend calls alone are appropriately trained and supported, must conduct risk assessments, and must be fully equipped with their accoutrements, including firearm, baton, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray, radio and ballistic vests.
