Significant police investigation ongoing into murder of Launceston man Jake Anderson-Brettner
The police investigation is ongoing in relation to the murder of Launceston man Jake Anderson-Brettner and the discovery of a body near Targa on Sunday.
“Significant police resources continue to investigate the murder of 24-year-old Jake Anderson-Brettner to bring his killer to justice and provide closure for his family,” said Detective Acting Inspector Craig Fox.
“At this stage no charges have been laid, however a 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman from Riverside remain in police custody.
“A body located near Targa on Sunday has not yet been formally identified but it is believed to be Jake.
“The body was not intact and police are continuing to extensively search multiple locations across Launceston to provide Jake’s family and loved ones with closure.
“The circumstances of Jake’s death are traumatic and police will today continue extensive searches of multiple locations in Launceston including the Remount Road tip.
“As part of our investigation, we thank people who have responded to our public appeals for information and urge anyone with information that hasn’t spoken to police to come forward.
“We acknowledge that providing information to police in relation to a murder investigation could be daunting, and reassure people that providing information to Crime Stoppers is completely anonymous, they don’t need your name or number just your details, and you can do it online if you prefer not to physically speak to someone.”
Anyone who saw a black 2015 Range Rover Evoque or black 2016 Jeep Cherokee in the Riverside, West Tamar or Prospect areas between 6pm Wednesday and 4.30pm Thursday is urged to provide information if they haven’t already.
“Sightings of a black Range Rover and Jeep Cherokee during the hours after Jake was last seen may provide police with valuable information to determine his movements.
“Police are also seeking dash cam and CCTV footage from vehicles or properties in the area around the time.”
“Our condolences are with Jake’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
