Significant Drug Seizure- Hobart Airport
On Monday the 27th of March 2023, Tasmania Police and Australian Federal Police were conducting drug screening of arriving passengers at Hobart International Airport.
At approx. 8pm a 32-year-old Claremont man, who had recently arrived on a flight from Sydney, was indicated by a drug detector dog to be in possession of a controlled drug. A subsequent search of the man’s luggage located 2 kilograms of cocaine and 3.5 kilograms of methylamphetamine.
The man was arrested and conveyed to the Hobart Police Station where he was interviewed, charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and detained to attend court on the 28th of March 2023.
The drugs have an estimated street value of $5.5 million
