Detectives investigating the sexual assault of an elderly woman in South Burnie have narrowed the time frame for the incident.

After speaking to witnesses, police believe the offender approached the residence in the vicinity of Strahan Street between 5.45pm and 6.10pm on Monday 8 July.

A Forensic team is continuing to process the property and police are continuing to door knock the area to seek information.

The elderly victim remains in hospital and is recovering well.  Her family is with her.

The offender is described as an older man, average height, average build, with short hair, tanned complexion.

Police want to hear from anyone who has any information that may help with identifying the offender.
