SES Advice – Continuation of Severe Weather and Flooding

>> SES Advice <<

The Bureau of Meteorology have advised that severe weather in the form of damaging winds and heavy rainfall leading to flooding will continue to affect all parts of Tasmania until late on Thursday.

NORTH & NORTH WEST
From Monday evening Tasmania SES volunteer units across the North West and North of Tasmania have attended a number of requests for assistance including structural damage, roof damage, trees down or damaged, flood damage, water inundation and requests for sandbags. 120 sandbags have been delivered in the Launceston area alone. SES incident management teams and response teams are now being progressively stood down but will remain on standby until at least Friday. The focus of planning in the North West will be on being ready for damaging winds and the focus in the North will also include flood readiness for flood prone area. SES will continue to work closely with other emergency services.

SOUTH
In the South storm cells have been forecast to pass over the south east from now until early tomorrow morning (i.e. midnight to 2:00 am). SES resources are on standby. Wind gusts to potentially 100 kph will be widespread and they may possibly reach 120 kph in association with a thunderstorm. To date no damage has been reported to SES in the south
