Serious Vehicle Incident – Penguin

Police are investigating a serious driving incident near Penguin in the state’s north-west yesterday.

On Wednesday 7 March 2018 at approximately 3.15pm police observed a white Mitsubishi station wagon, with Queensland number plates, travelling east on Penguin Road, West Ulverstone.  After the vehicle was observed to commit a number of traffic offences the vehicle avoided a police interception point.

Police later saw the vehicle on Sport Complex Road, Penguin, where police deployed spikes which were successful.  The male driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi vehicle then pulled in front of a blue Commodore utility further North on Ironcliffe Road, Penguin.  The man from the Mitsubishi then alighted from the vehicle and ordered the driver of the utility to get out, which he did.  The man then stole the utility and drove off north along Ironcliffe Road, turned right onto Crescent Street, Penguin, where the vehicle drove out of sight.  The driver was left standing on the side of the road, he was not harmed.

Police would like to talk to anybody who witnessed a white Mitsubishi station wagon with Queensland plates or a blue Commodore utility driving in an erratic manner in the Ulverstone and Penguin areas at this time.
