Just after 5:00pm on Sunday 28 February 2021, police and emergency services attended a serious two vehicle crash on the Huon Highway, Huonville between Glen Road and North Glen Road.

A red Hyundai hatch travelling north on the Huon Highway collided head on with a silver Nissan X-Trail which was travelling south on the Huon Highway.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged as a result of the crash.

The driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai, a 77 year old woman from Mountain River, had to be cut free from her vehicle and was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious injuries.

Both occupants of the Nissan X-Trail were transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Crash investigation Services attended the crash and the cause is being investigated.

The Huon Highway was closed for about four hours while the scene was cleared.
