Serious two vehicle crash – Bass Highway, Leith

About 7am on Tuesday 28 April 2015, police were called to reports of a two vehicle crash on the Bass Highway / Leith Road intersection.

Initial reports suggested that a red Ford sedan with five occupants, had struck a white Mitsubishi wagon containing three occupants, which had attempted to cross the highway from Leith Road to travel towards Devonport.

Police, Tasmania Ambulance Service, and Tasmania Fire Services personnel attended.  Two adults in the Mitsubishi required extraction from the vehicle by TFS personnel.  West bound traffic was diverted for about 90 minutes through Leith Road.

One female passenger will be flown to Victoria due to her injuries.  Her condition is listed as serious but stable.
