Serious Truck Crash, Midland Highway, Bagdad

At 09.30 on Thursday 7/4/2016, a fully laden De Bruyns Transport B-Double truck was travelling south on Midland Highway on the southern border of Bagdad.

At the School Road cutting, the B-Double has veered to the right sharply, mounted the embankment and rolled onto its left side, causing significant damage to the left side of the cab and load.

The driver, a 51 year old male from Latrobe, has suffered serious injuries as a result of the impact.

The scene was surveyed by Crash Investigation Services, Police Forensics, Transport Tasmania and Workplace Standards.  Investigations are continuing.

The road diversion, made through School Road, has proved to have a limited impact on travelling time, however motorists should allow for the diversion in their travel plans.

The road will remain diverted until the clean up and removal of the load (a consignment of furniture) has concluded.
