Serious three vehicle crash – Bass Highway

Police are investigating a serious three vehicle crash that occurred at 9:00am on Wednesday 27th of November 2012 on the Bass Highway, Deloraine.

Preliminary Investigations indicate that a wheel from a semi trailer truck driven by a 61 year old male dislodged from the vehicle into the path of an oncoming camper van. The wheel impacted with the camper van which lost control and crossed to the incorrect side of the road where it collided with an oncoming rubbish truck.

As a result of the crash a 31 year old female Victorian tourist was trapped in the camper van for a short period of time and is in a serious but stable condition. A 28 year old French female tourist who was a passenger in the van received a number of injuries and is in a stable condition.

The drivers of both trucks and a male passenger in the camper van were uninjured.
