Serious Skateboard Crash Hobart

A 20 year old man from Tranmere and an 18 year old male from Rokeby were involved in a collision when the skateboard they were riding struck a motor vehicle.  The crash occurred on the corner of Davey and Harrington Streets Hobart.

The males were riding the skateboard against the traffic flow down Davey Street.  At this time a blue Subaru station wagon travelling on Harrington Streetcrossed over Davey Street.

The skateboard riders struck the passenger side of the vehicle.  The Subaru was being driven by an 18 year old male from Sandy Bay.   There were two other 18 year old males in the Subaru, one from Sandy Bay and the other from Tolmans Hill.  The occupants of the Subaru were not injured.

Both skateboard riders were transported by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.

The 20 year old skate board rider sustained head injuries and is listed as critical.  The 18 year old rider received a broken arm, his condition is serious.

Crash investigators would like to hear from any members of the public who may have witnessed the crash or seen the vehicle or pedestrian immediately prior to the incident.
