In the late afternoon of Thursday the 25^th of April 2019, emergency services attended a call to a single vehicle crash on Winkleigh Road about 2 kilometres north from the junction with Rookery Road at Winkleigh.  Initial investigations indicate that a white Mitsubishi Lancer was being driven north when the vehicle crossed the centre line on a left hand bend. The vehicle entered the gravel verge on the incorrect side of the road and appears to have lost control before crossing the road way and impacting with a tree.

The 58 year old female driver and sole occupant suffered serious injuries. She was transferred to the Launceston General Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are investigating all possible causes for the accident.
