Serious single vehicle crash – South Arm Highway, Sandford

A 21-year-old woman from Kingston remains in hospital in a critical condition following a single vehicle crash on the South Arm Highway at Sandford which occurred on Friday, 5 June 2020, at around 7:15pm.

The woman who was the driver of a red Toyota Camry was trapped for a short period of time before being freed by emergency service personnel.

The crash occurred on the South Arm Highway just north of the Clifton Beach turnoff.  A 19-year-old female passenger was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The South Arm Highway was closed for a short period whilst forensic and Crash Investigation Services personnel examined the scene, Sergeant Adrian Mollon said.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that excessive speed for the conditions was a contributing factor in this crash,” Sergeant Adrian Mollon said.

“With increased traffic over this long weekend, we ask that motorists drive to the road conditions, particularly when travelling at night on damp roads,” he said.
