Serious single vehicle crash – Old Midland Highway, Brighton

Emergency Services attended the scene of a single vehicle crash on the Old Midland Highway at Brighton at about 11.40pm on Wednesday 19 August 2015.

A 27 year old man from Margate was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.

At the time  of the crash the driver (and sole occupant of the vehicle) was travelling north in a Ford Mondeo sedan approaching the roundabout at the intersection of Old Midland Highway and Andrews Street, Brighton.

It appears that the driver has lost steering control of the vehicle and was unable to negotiate the roundabout.  The vehicle has become airborne and rolled onto its roof on at least one occasion prior to coming to rest in a paddock a short distance away.

The driver was trapped in his vehicle until emergency crews were able to free him.

The investigating officer, Constable CLEWS from Bridgewater Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who saw the vehicle beforehand. Anyone with information can contact Police on 131 444.
