A Youngtown man sustained serious injuries after he was struck by a passenger bus at the intersection of Goderich and Lindsay Streets in Invermay around midday today.

The man in his 70s was taken by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash, and the driver was uninjured.

Traffic was disrupted around Launceston and Invermay for a period of time following the crash and the road has since been cleared.
