Serious motorcycle crash – Scopus, North-West Tasmania

At 1030 am on Saturday 27th February 2016 Tasmania Police and Ambulance Service attended a serious single vehicle motorcycle crash on Montagu Road, at Scopus.

 

The 22 year old male rider of a green Kawasaki Ninja ZX9R motorcycle had been travelling in a westerly direction when he collided with several cows on the road at a farm stock crossing point, losing control and sustaining critical injuries as a result. He remains in a critical condition and has been airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

 

Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance at the scene. They believe at this time that excessive speed was a contributing factor, and would like to speak to anybody who may have noticed the motorcycle being ridden prior to the crash.
