Serious Motorcycle Crash – Droughty Point Road, Rokeby

SERIOUS MOTOR CYCLE CRASH – DROUGHTY POINT ROAD – ROKEBY

At 11.55am on Thursday 19th March 2015, Police were notified of a motor cycle crash on Droughty Point Road at Rokeby.  The crash occurred when the rider of a south bound (yellow) Suzuki motor cycle lost control negotiating a curve.  The motor cycle and rider have slid along the road and collided with a fence on the western side.

The 30 year old male rider from Bellerive was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital by road ambulance.  His condition is reported as critical.

Police Crash Investigation and Forensic Services personnel attended and examined the crash scene.  Investigations are ongoing.  The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.

At the time of the crash the weather was fine, road dry and visibility was clear.

Droughty Point Road was closed to traffic for approximately 2 hours.
