Serious Motorcycle Crash, Bass Highway
Shortly before midnight on Friday 14th December 2012, a serious single vehicle crash occurred on the east bound lanes of the Bass Highway near Travellers Rest (approximately 900 metres west of the Prospect connector).
A 21 year old Mowbray man had been riding a Harley Davidson motor cycle when he lost control on a straight section of road. Speed is believed to have been a contributing factor.
The rider was conveyed by ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital where he underwent surgery for multiple injuries of a serious nature.
Northern Crash Investigation Services attended the scene and would like to hear from any member of the public who may have observed the motor cycle travelling on the Bass Highway between Elizabeth Town and Travellers Rest between 11.30pm and midnight. Witnesses are asked to telephone Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Launceston Police Station.
