Serious Motor Vehicle Crash – Main Road, Montrose
At approximately 6:45am this morning, police and emergency services responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle crash on Main Road, Montrose.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that a blue Commodore, being driven by a single male occupant has collided heavily with two parked and unoccupied vehicles as it travelled in a northerly direction on Main Road, in the vicinity of Marys Hope Road.
A 52-year-old man is currently in hospital with serious injuries reported as a result of the crash. There were no other persons involved in the incident.
A TasNetworks power pole was also impacted and as a result, approximately 90 residences were without power for several hours whilst emergency crews responded.
Early indications are that excessive speed may be a factor in this crash.
